Fletcher Place Arts and Books Internship Program

The Fletcher Place Arts and Books Internship program is designed to be creative, hands-on and flexible. We are seeking applicants who are eager to become involved in creating events that connect community, literacy and art as well as individuals who are considering a career in the creative arts.

Arts Administration Intern

The Arts Administration Intern offers opportunity to learn aspects of gallery administration, art handling and installation, fundraising, event coordination and public relations. Responsibilities range from running First Friday events, installing art for events, creating advertisements and working with others on events that promote literacy, art and community. This position will be suit an individual who is eager, flexible and works well individually as well as with small groups. In this position, the intern will have flexibility and be able to see his or her own project ideas come to life during the internship.

Scheduling of work time can be flexible to fit each intern’s needs. We ask for a commitment of 5-10 hours a week for at least 8 weeks. All internships are unpaid and arrangement for school credit is encouraged if applicable.

And First Friday is THIS Friday–Ann Dyar has her paintings on display. It was exciting to see them come in this week. They look great! We’ll have refreshments and an artist reception from 6-10PM.

Amanda Shires—Acoustic Show

Amanda Shires has a beautifully haunting voice. Her lyrics are simple yet direct. She has been named Artist of the Year 2011 by Texas Music Magazine and she has been featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts as well as World Cafe. And she’s coming to Fletcher Place Arts and Books for an all age, acoustic set.

November 1st at 7pm! $12

Music at the Gallery!

Emerging Indianapolis musician, Nicholas James Alcock, and a local music collective, Youth Camp, will be performing June 22 at 7PM ($5) in our gallery space. Support local artists as you enjoy the experimental ambient dream music of these talented musicians. Check out their sound here: Nicholas Jame Alcock and Youth Camp
